As we write (or type as it were) this months theme notes, nearly all of the grapes have been harvested from their vines and crews across the state are busy managing fermentation - making it the perfect time to celebrate single-vineyard wines. This month we will focus on the impact of site, the precision and craft of single-vineyard wines and the impact of winemaker expression.

Unlike regional blends, single-vineyard wines leave nowhere for the winemaker to hide—the wine is a direct footprint of a single farm in a single growing season, made by a single producer. No blending. No hiding. Just pure, unmasked terroir. Which can be terrifying.
